Going Subtle

Somewhere along the line, my need to beam brighter than the stars faltered.

I say somewhere along the line, but I know full well the BECCA x Chrissy Teigen palette is what did it. Call me easily swayed, but I bought the California Chrissy glow the palette promoted and I haven’t looked back since. I mean, who wouldn’t want to emulate the flawlessness that is Chrissy Teigen?

It’s ironic, because BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors ignited the glow craze in me, and just like that took it away. I don’t think for a second this won’t switch right back in the blink of an eye one day. That day may come soon because I have the new Apres Ski Glow Face Collection palette on the way.

But for now, I’m rather enjoying being subtle.

My toned-down highlighters of choice right now, are the Dior Nude Air Luminiser in 001, and the NARS Bord de Plage palette.

For every day wear, it’s DIOR all the way. The buttery texture of the powder, and the long-lasting sheen are my favourite. Plus, you can’t overdo this one, and believe me I’ve tried! It’s almost as if it looks wet, but not quite. Like I’m not wearing any highlight at all, and that’s just how angelic I look, but anyone that knows me wouldn’t believe that for a second!

Golden hues I rarely reach for. Probably because I don’t like anything yellow, so Bord de Plage was more of a whim, but it’s worked out for the absolute best. The highlights are subtle, and the bronzers gorgeous, but the lasting power of the highlights leaves me wanting. It’s nothing tragic though, I just need to remember to layer more than I normally would.

This is typical me, falling head over heels for launches when everyone has moved on to the next thing. But I don’t mind. It’s what I do best, and this way, I stay in sync with new favourites long after the hype has died.

The NARS palette is long since gone, but you could still buy the DIOR. At 6g, it’s generous in size and though I’ve used it every day for the last two months, I’ve barely smoothed the surface.

Head to Escentual for a bargain and 2 day delivery.

  1. I love this post and especially your thoughts about the Nars Bord de Plage palette as I can really relate to them. I rarely wear golden tones as well, but this palette is really tempting to me, such a shame it is too late now :( But the Dior one does look very pretty indeed :)

    1. Thank you!

I hope NARS come out with another cheek palette like this, maybe not so gold. Definitely try the DIOR. It's the prettiest thing!
