I’ve always had unrealistic
expectations of eye creams.
I wanted an eye cream that’d
lighten my dark circles, reduce puffiness, keep fine lines at bay, and prevent all
signs of ageing forever. I also wanted a cream that’d stop me feeling
self-conscious about said raccoon eyes, and that wouldn’t break the bank.
Nothing’s worked in this very realistic way.
But I’d never re-purchased an under-eye
treatment until Dr. Dennis Gross.
Right now, I’m friends with the
Ferulic + Retinol Eye Cream. Before this, I went through two bottles of the Ferulic+ Retinol Eye Serum before it was taken off the market for
ages to be reformulated (I think it has been) and repackaged (it’s back in
stock now).
This is a firming and hydrating
treatment, with retinol and the antioxidant, ferulic acid. As per Cult Beauty, this
cream has “an advanced ECG Complex – containing ellagic and gallic acids
alongside collagen – works to iron out creases, crows feet and ‘eleven’ lines,
while the cocktail of actives trigger an immediate firming, tightening and lightening
effect.”
So what else is in it?
Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau,
Isododecane, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Adipic
Acid/Neopentyl Glycol Crosspolymer, Lauryl Dimethicone, Potassium Cetyl
Phosphate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl
Taurate Copolymer, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Glyceryl Behenate, Ceteareth-20,
Collagen Amino Acids, Ferulic Acid, Gallic Acid, Ellagic Acid, Arnica Montana
Flower Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Retinol, Aminobutyric Acid, Caffeine
For me, it’s made my under-eye
area look healthier. My fine lines are less noticeable, and it’s lifted some of
the darkness. My texture has improved, it no longer looks papery and tight, and
there’s a fullness I appreciate that lasts for days. If I could just get more
sleep, I’m sure my skin would appreciate that.
I’ll admit, I preferred the
delivery system of the serum, but at this stage pots are hard to avoid. Just
don’t stick your fingers in it every night. I use a clean cotton bud instead. It’s
hard to know how quickly ingredients degrade with opening a pot, but what can
we do? Pots, pots everywhere!
At £59 for 15ml, it’s a bit
pricey. But if there’s one thing I’m okay with investing in its eye creams.
